How to use the map viewer?
| How to make textual searches? |
| The search's box offers four options: Street: search postal addresses in the geocoder of the ‘Generalitat de Catalunya’. Place names: the search is realized over the Catalonia toponymic base 1:5.000 and 1:50.000 of ICC, with more than 152.000 names. Maps: Search the IDEC metadata catalog, with more than 27.000 references of data and map services. Cadastral Reference: Search by cadastral reference (urban and rural) to the ‘Dirección General del Catastro’. |

| How to predefined searches? |
| There are three preset searches that show map visualization services: Local urbanism: Displays map services of local authorities (City Councils, County Councils, County..) that contains urban information. Much of this information is accessible through local initiatives. Production of university maps: displays produced information by different universities from Catalonia. This information is available through the initiative IDEC Univers Maps local thematic: Displays map services of local authorities (City Councils, County Councils, County ...) which containing information on various subjects (city guides, street,…). Much of this information is accessible through local initiatives. |

| How to access to layers? |
| Within the Maps tab are shown layers of map servers by theme. This organization is based on the layer allows access to the same type of information from various sources transparently to the user. Each layer contains a link called details >> that allows access to the properties of the layer and its data metadata. |

| How access to external layers? |
| Predefined and textual searches Maps permeten allow adding new external information layers to the layer tree. For example we could: 1-Look for “Maps” indicating the value “Urban plan Manresa”. 2-To observe the results which contain the connection icon.  3-Select and click the icon of Mapserver of Sant Joan de Vilatorrada 4-Go to Maps tab and activate the layers of new server. |

| How to save views settings from the map? |
| Once is determined the area and the information to view is possible to save the view to can access it later. All the saved views are into the My views list, and allow display the map with the saved option. These views can also be shared by URL with the “Link this view” option. To make this action is necessary have got active the navigator cookies. |

| How to access data metadata? |
| Within the results tab the data metadata results contains the text [Data], if describe information as whole [Serie] or if this information is part of a dataset. This text is linked to descriptive title of data and an icon that provides access to information as the organization, the scale and a brief description.  When you can access a data download service, it appear this icon:  At the bottom are three links: -Reduced Metadata: Displays a summary of the most relevant data: Scale, title, year of flight, date edition, .. -Full Metadata: Displays all information contained within the data. -Supplier: Displays information about the data provider: Government, contact details, .. |

| How to access service metadata? |
| Within the results window service metadata containing the text [Services]. This text accompanies the descriptive title of the service and a + icon that gives access to information as the organization, the connection address and a brief description. When the service type is OGC:WMS can be visualized using this icon: At the bottom are two links: -Capacity: Displays information about the service: thematic, layers, reference systems, .. -Availability: Displays if the service is active or not. |
