4- I get the following message: "Not a valid Win32 application":
5- "The Windows Installer service cannot update the system file C:\WINNT\System32\hhctrl.ocx because the file is protected by Windows. You may need to update your operating system for this program to work correctly." "
6- Has NTVDM CPU encountered an Illegal Instruction?
7- I get the following message of error: 200 PORT command successful. Consider using PASV. 425 Failed to establish connection.

1- To install the data base in the network.

  • To install the application.
  • To copy the MetaD.mdb file from the folder (C:\Program Files\MetaD\mdb) to the server directory.
  • To define the access path. From the File menu of MetaD software open option "Chosen database". Once inside, you have to find MetaD file.mdb in server directories.
  • Once the file MetaD.mdb has been found the program will restart

As soon as the software (program) restart, it connects with the database in the network.

2- MetaD initializing Error. Cause: An error has been made connecting wih BdD via ODBC.

This error is caused by authorization access, that's to say, the program wants to access to the database but the user does not have access. There are two solutions:

  • First: to ask for access to the folder to computer experts.
  • Second (in case of having two hard disc units): to create a folder in your files Unit (per example Unit E) copy the file MetaD.mdb ubicated in the following path (c:\Program Files\MetaD\mdb) and paste on the folder just created in the alternative Unit. Afterwards you have to follow instructions of Point 1. If you don't succeed, you have to give notice to computer experts.

3- The program does not record metadata.

So that the program save the introduced information, it is necessary to complete the fields that have the red-circle symbol.

4- I get the following message: "Not a valid Win32 application".

This message means that the program has not download correctly. You will have to download it again so that it works. This error took place because you are using a manager of downloading software. You have to desactivate it before downloading.

5- Error 1931. The Windows Installer service cannot update the system file C:\WINNT\System32\hhctrl.ocx because the file is protected by Windows. You may need to update your operating system for this program to work correctly."

You have two posibilities:

  • 1. Disregard the error and continue the installation. However, it is recommended that you install the Service Pack 2 or superior for Windows 2000 after having restarted the computer.
  • 2. Windows NT/2000 may have been setup in a manner that you do not have access as administrator in your computer (i.e. you can not install software). Please, contact your Network or IT manager to find out if this is the case.

6- NTVDM CPU Has Encountered an Illegal Instruction.

To resolve this issue, please replace the Command.com file in the Winnt\System32 folder with the same file from another computer that is running Windows NT Workstation 4.0 or Windows NT Server 4.0, and then make sure that there are no Command.com files dated 7/11/95 on the computer. You can also replace the Command.com file on the computer with the same file on the Windows NT installation CD-ROM.

7- 200 PORT command successful. Consider using PASV. 425 Failed to establish connection.

There may be a firewall between you and the FTP server that is blocking active FTP. Select the option FTP passive from your browser and take the following steps:

  • 1. To select the option "Internet options" from "Tool" menu in your browser.
  • 2. To open "Advanced" section.
  • 3. To Check "Use pasive FTP" option.

Now download MetaD again.
